SOUND-FOR-PICTURE
My library of works is currently represented by PEN MUSIC GROUP (with location in Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York). Additional collaborative work is also available through Bashful Tiger and Marmoset Music.
While 2025 was mostly focused on artist projects, I still managed to have a film I scored (The Fast Runner) show at Sundance, completed several trailers with collaborators Shani Rose and trailer composer guru Simone Benyacar (known for his work on Avatar and Lord of the Rings trailers), as well as an orchestration currently in production for a marquee Netflix series.
I write in a multitude of genres but lean heavily into using real organic instruments as opposed to AI or a reliance on virtual samples. From the hammer hit of an acoustic piano, glissando of a real cello player, to ear-melting electric guitar bends … there are sound scapes and emotions one can't re-produce with only a computer. By blending these sounds with home cooked samples, experimenting, and twisting some knobs, I am able to get the best of both worlds and explore new and unique sonic possibilities.
My recording space is blessed with a wide range of instruments including a grand piano, Italian accordion, vintage Rhodes, the latest Roland analog synth, Sonor drum kit, and a collection of over 50 percussion instruments from around the world, 9 different types of acoustic string instruments, cello, viola, 20+ electric guitars/basses, and a wide collection of tube guitar amps. For me it's simply easier to pick up a guitar or head over to the drum kit and play something and see if I get the “feels” and know when I’m onto something that resonates and ultimately moves the viewer. I also write/ orchestrate/work with string players for all my current works.
Having been born in Asia of an Egyptian mother and Hungarian father has enabled me to approach projects with a global mindset. I have travelled the world many times over, from graduate school in Asia, work in Europe, backpacking in South America's Andes mountains, walking the streets of NY, or strolling through a farm in Indiana. I'm blessed to have seen many parts of the world, absorbing cultures, their sounds, beats, and often their instruments.
I’ve also spent a little over two years on the side of the recording console as a sound, music, and SFX editor, as well as 2.0 and 5.1 mix engineer for Discovery/TLC, TNT TV shows, DVD/Blu-ray, and a number of network TV and Indie films, so I have a solid understanding of delivery standards, tight deadlines, and top notch audio quality.
